With our mantra of Memories for Life and a commitment to creating a world class experience, the team at Hanmer Springs TOP 10 Holiday Park are thrilled to have taken out the People’s Choice Award at the 2022 Hospitality New Zealand awards.
The awards, which recognise excellence in hospitality across many categories, saw the Park take out the award in a field of luxury international hotel chains and lodges, as well as much loved local motels, restaurants, bars and cafes.
“To have become a finalist and represent our industry for the Best Accommodation (Other) category at this prestigious event was a real buzz in itself, but to then be voted as the winners of the People’s Choice Award really pushed the excitement level off the charts - thanks to all our fantastic guests who voted for us.”

It’s very much a family owned and operated business for Jacqui and Dean Anderson. Jacqui has a connection with this Hanmer Springs Park that goes back to her own teenage years.
Inspired by her own memories of family holidays and road trips to TOP 10 conferences at parks around the country, she also remembers her parents and their business partner friends worked to get the Hanmer Springs Park up and running – making curtains with a couple of wines at the dining room table into the night, doing what they could to make it work before leasing out the business.
Fast forward three or so decades, when six years ago Jacqui and her husband Dean were able to take full ownership at Hanmer Springs, they came with a vision to create a world class park,but also with a grounded personal connection, a great work ethic and a ton of passion.
Firm believers in putting their best foot forward, Dean and Jacqui like to dream big. They like to take opportunities when they can and make the most of things which is evident in what they and their dedicated team have achieved. Realistic enough to know that progress is made one step at a time; they have chipped away, bit by bit, to make things work.
And reminiscent of those times spent sewing curtains at the dining table, family and friends remain an integral part of their success. Four years ago they strengthened the crew when good friends Marty and Liesl came on board as Park Managers, bringing with them not only a few hospitality super powers - Marty makes a mean flat white and Liesl has a real knack for finding out what people enjoy and recommending just the right restaurant, bar, family activity or walking trail - but also a wonderful, welcoming down to earth approach.
When they decided to build 5 luxury apartments, upmarket bathroom facilities, and plant 1200 natives and large trees on the property, friends, their children and their children’s friends all showed up to help! Dean, Jacqui and Liesl painted the outside of the five luxury apartments, and of course, true to form, once they’d done that, started dreaming up new plans for what’s next!
As well as her personal connection to Hanmer, Jacqui has a legacy going back decades with TOP 10 Holiday Parks (her parents were two of the founding members of the TOP 10 Group). As CEO David Ovendale said “It’s immensely rewarding to see the team enjoying success, and to see the broader sector endorsements which acknowledge their hard work and effort; particularly seeing them making it work with COVID bringing its own unique set of challenges. We are really proud of their remarkable success as part of our Group.”
